Hydrophobia is the morbid fear of water. It can also refer rabies which is a disease characterized by fear of drinking water due to pain when swallowing. Behaviorism deals with attributes that can be observed and proven while psychoanalysis seeks to understand the human subconscious, thoughts, feelings and dreams.

This condition is mostly caused by an individual's memories or experiences or due to biological factors. They therefore cannot stand the sight of water due to this for a fear of this traumatizing event to recur. Some of the known causes of hydrophobia include bites from  a rabid animal like dog, raccoon or rat. This bite would then cause the victim to be infected with a neuroinvasive virus which causes hydrophobia. Transplant surgery has also been known to cause hydrophobia in some few cases to patients.

One also tends to have stiff muscles as well as well as sweating a lot. The mouth of the individual might also become very dry in some cases. The hydrophobic individuals also tend to be very anxious and are afraid of many uncertainties.  Some would even think they are gong to die if they get close to water! There are also cases when hydrophobic individuals get aggressive and generally unfriendly.
